How do I get out of this?

i am having a baby here in a couple of weeks, and here is the problem:.

i have a friend, we grew up together as close as sisters, and she lives about 6 hours away from me.

she has been there through everything with me and i love her dearly.

If you can't tell your friend the truth, blame it on the doctor.

Say in case of an Emergency they only want the husband or birthing coach in the room. If she is deadset on coming tell her how much it would mean to you to have her stay with your first child so you wouldn't have to worry....

I did this with my mom. I love her, but she gets crazy scared in a medical situation. She was with our oldest son when I was having our baby 2 years ago.

I know a part of her wanted to be in the room and see everything, since she missed the actual birth of our first son (c-section only one allowed in the room).....but I could live without one extra person seeing my girl parts this time around!

I want to call my mom...any advise???

my mom has disowned me and subsequently, my 6 month old....and i am sick of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i am so frusterated to let this stinkin cult ruin and affect my life so much.

has anyone had success in talking to a relative and saying something to get them to think for themselves?

Hi Megsmomma,

My husband and I are in a similar situation, but 7 years later. My husbands mother is an excellent grandmother to her JW grandkids. Our children are ignored. It was extremely hurtful to me and my husband, but honestly my oldest son doesn't notice because my parents overcompensate for the lack of my husbands mother.

The only time it seems to really bother our son now is when he hears from his cousins what Grammy did for them...then he gets upset.

But we limit those relationships too because the JW cousins are not so nice, they know our 2 sons are ignored and rub it in...vindictive little sh*ts.

I really try to see it more as a rejection of my husband and I, spilling onto our children. The sins of the father....etc.

It really is my Mother in laws' loss. My children are polite, brilliant and so loving...and she gets none of that.

9/11 ALL OVER??????

When I first heard that happened I felt really sick in my stomach like when I was watching 9/11 while it was happening.

I had to remind myself not to panic, that it was probably something normal, but out of the ordinary. Not a terrorist thing.

But I did wonder until they said who it was if it was some wacko Muslim doing something on his own, kind of like the guy in N.C who drove into all those students.

Witnessing in public schools

last night was my oldest son's open house at school.

he is in public school now, last year he went to the private christian school.. as we were walking by the pto raffle table, i saw that there was an information/brochure table too.

so i go over to take a look because i don't want to miss out on any information about the school or upcoming activities.. someone had placed a stack of watchtower's on the table.

Last night was my oldest son's open house at school. He is in public school now, last year he went to the private Christian school.

As we were walking by the PTO raffle table, I saw that there was an information/brochure table too. So I go over to take a look because I don't want to miss out on any information about the school or upcoming activities.

Someone had placed a stack of Watchtower's on the table. I was so pissed. I picked them up and walked over to the Principal and gave them to her. She knew what they were and she said she would make sure that they weren't set out again. I was happy, I didn't even have to go into my separation of Church and State - no religion being taught to my child talk.

After that, I couldn't stop looking around to see if I saw any book bags or happy smily witnoids. Exactly how many hours get counted for putting out a stack of magazines? Is no place exempt from JW witnessing opportunities?

Call the police?

in my part of the world, there are supposedly congregations throughout the "cities" that have had talks about going directly to the police if we hear of any illegal activities, rather than going to the elders.

any active witnesses hear the same talk?

Someone in our family was told to pray harder and go out in service more when she was raped and beaten in her marriage.

She separated from him and changed halls. He is treated well, she isn't.

The Dud's Came Calling Today!

hubbie, myself and our son were outside building our garage when i heard a car pulling in, although i am the only lucky one that saw them .

anywho as soon as they saw us they hightailed it away...now there was only always 4-5 people i went out with (arwen being one of them...hi arwen.

btw....this same person (the pioneer with her husband) met my son and his girlfriend about a month ago at the farmers market so my son said hi because he has been working at the same place with the husband for the last year....and she comes back and says...'i don't know you'... then turns and walks away.....wtf...what an idiot/retarded/stupid thing to say!.

I think you should keep a monkey around....and train it like the ones at the zoo.

When witnesses come by you can give the secret special code and it can throw poo poo.

Sorry, I know that's not nice. But most JW's aren't nice so fight fire with fire!

On a serious note, I am sorry you and your son were treated that way. Its disgustingly immature behavior.

What would you notice first if you went back to a Kingdom Hall?

first thing i'd notice is how the old ones got so much older and how the kids became adults and are taller than me.. next thing i'd notice would be how long and dull the meetings are.. *yawn*.

MY SON WAS ATTACKED!

yesterday afternoon my older son, karl, who is studying musical production at brighton university, came round to see his family.

he had just been to see his pregnant girlfriend, who is staying with her mum and dad for a week.. karl is a wonderful boy; the type of son any parent would be proud of.

he is loving, considerate, respectful and has never once caused any trouble or been in any.

Big hugs, thoughts and prayers going out to you both and to Karl. I hope they catch the waste of human life that did this to Karl. I am glad that he is safe.

You both must have been so frightened when the phone rang. I immediately get frightened when the phone rings at an odd hour, because its never good.

Is it legal to carry mace or pepper spray there so Karl can defend himself if he is ever in this situation again? I carry it with me and I have a baseball bat in my car and I don't play ball. I suppose you all would have to have a Cricket Stick (bat, mallot, what do you call it?) instead of a baseball bat....

My daughter turns 14 today!

i am so happy for her.

it is only the second birthday we are celebrating.

she is very excited as we are having a party at a local pizza place that she and all her friends hang out at and then invited 10 of her closest friends to go to the arcade afterwards - tokens on me and her father.. i was thinking how less than 3 years ago now my daughter was very depressed and spent most of her time in her room.

Amish forgivness

i saw a part on the today show where matt was asking if it was possible an emotional disconnect to be able to forgive immidietly after such a terrible tragedy.

i personally feel it is not natural to be able to forgive something so big so quickly and it makes me think they all put on a front because they are a cult-like group too.

if they said "one family is forgiving, and another family is mad as h*ll about the whole thing,"it would be much more believable to me.

Back to the original thought of people forgiving instantly when something awful is done to them or a family member.

Last year we had 2 cases here in Massachusetts, that struck me very deeply, not because I knew the people or it directly affected me.

One was a woman was drunk and high and backed out of her parents driveway and drove over a man then drove off , he was killed. This was a good man, the neighborhood do-gooder. The guy that would shovel your sidewalk in a snowstorm and help in anyway he could. His wife said " I love my husband, I will miss him, but I know I will see him again someday because of my faith in God. I feel sorry for her parents because their ordeal is just starting."

The other was a little poor girl was sitting on her porch and was killed in a drive by shooting. The mother was on the news and immediately saying she forgave the person who did this and she would pray for them.

I don't know where this kind of stregth, faith, love comes from....because I don't have it. I don't have any of it. I was just floored by these peoples kindness in the midst of their loss. If it was me, I'd go for the eye for an eye justice.
